Vapiano Opening Party

Vapiano

They did a great job with the opening party, so hopefully they will keep up with their marketing momentum and have a great 1st summer in Boston. The event was done right, with plenty of food in multiple sections of the place to avoid bottlenecks and keep the crowd circulating, their bartenders were confidant and didn’t seem like it was their first pour behind the wood, and the food was good – My “sixth sense” is that it won’t be successful unless they do seasonal marketing because of it’s size, location and menu offering. They need to keep their presence visible and capitalize on their outside seating during the warm season by promoting private parties.

I loved the fresh basil at the table! However, as we all know, I love my tequila on the rocks, so I hope they were just behind on stocking their bar since they didn't have any Patron or Milagro to offer. Todos necesitamos un buen tequila.

Il Casale Restaurant Review

Il Casale
My Opinions:  This is the first time I hosted a business diner here, and it exceeded my expectations. The service was great with a good pace and polite, not overly chatty, conversation - My free Business Development Advice: For places that don't have an active bar scene, patronage especially suffers during major sporting events, so it is wise for these places to cater to special events and offer some food specials and festively named cocktails (market it  3 to 4 weeks beforehand).

Some Food/Drink Tasted: Sfizis – Semplice – Ravioli – Funghi Trifolati – Bistecca - Carne Meatballs - Salumi Plate for Two - Petto Griglia

Bistro du Midi Restaurant & Bar Review

Bistro du Midi
My Opinions: After my disappointing downstairs dining experience, I was back upstairs for another great dinner with attentive and polite service! I was pleased to see new barbajan flavors too, though I hope they bring the pumpkin back once it's in season - They're still doing the souffles, not bad but not my favorite desert, anyhoo ... don't worry about ordering them early, you can still order them when you're done with your meal.

Some Food/Drink Tasted: Barbajans, Parmesan & Black Olive Shortbreads – Fried Artichokes with Aïoli – Chestnut Soup – Marinated Beet Salad – Filet of Beef – Classic Provençal Beef Daube - Trio of Sorbets - Grand Marnier Soufflé - Chocolate Soufflé - Anis Pot de Crème - Warm Chocolate Fondant w/ Nougat Ice Cream - Eggplant & Olive Dip with Crostini - Croque Monsieur - Roasted Chicken Breast with Polenta - Chocolate and Pistachio Tart

Cigar Masters Bar Review

Cigar Masters
My Opinions:  Another fun night with great wine, smooth smokes (they even sell Nat Sherman cigarettes), and a handsome crowd (including the cocktail waitresses).

I like this unique experience since smoking indoors is so rare to come by. The bar scene is always fun and social. Since they only serve wine and beer, the locker storage VIP option is fantastic, so you can have your own personal products on hand.

The management and staff are very easy to work with for special events!

Siros Restaurant & Bar Review

Siros
My Opinions:  The outside dining must have distracted me, and I ordered the veal piccata - a dish I must remember not to order here. I do love my piccata's, but this is one of the few preparations that does not taste good to me ... something about the large olives and chewy pasta fall short - On the up side, the Frenched Pork Chop was delicious - savory, tender with a perfect crisp on the outside - To note: Siros' has a tasty marinara sauce - No surprise, it gets pretty busy in the Summer, so be sure to make a reservation - I am looking forward to trying their new restaurant that's replacing Skyline on the marina. It's set to open in the Fall/Winter 2010.

Some Food/Drink Tasted: Rolled Eggplant – Bruschetta - Mediterranean Salad – Wedge – Chicken Parmesan – Chicken Broccoli and Rigatoni – Filet Mignon – Tiramisu – Bread Pudding - Veal Piccata - Double Thick Frenched Pork Chop

Oceanaire Restaurant Review

Oceanaire
My Opinions: Veal is telling of an Italian Restaurant's quality, as raw oysters and crab cakes are of a Seafood Restaurant. The oyster bar and crab cakes are quite good here! - Bar is nice and spacious with stiff drinks and a more mature crowd ... perhaps due to being located by government center. You can certainly come here to eat solo, entertain a date or host a business meeting - Staff is attentive and friendly - I would come back here, but would not go out of my way because the menu is basic and the atmosphere doesn't offer anything special.

Some Food/Drink Tasted: Jumbo Lump Crab Cake - Oysters On The Half Shell - Tomato and Fresh Mozzarella Salad - Baked Stuffed Shrimp - Pan Roasted Button Mushrooms

Caliterra Restaurant & Bar Review

Caliterra Bar & Grille at the Hilton
My Opinions: This visit was great, per usual, but a bit emotional because we celebrated one of Caliterra's irreplaceable bartenders, Elena's, last day. She is off to pursue her aspirations, so I am happy for her, and I look forward to visiting her at the House of Blues. As far as I know, Dragan will still be here to serve ice cold San Pellegrino with a smile and offer up great conversation - so all is not lost and I will continue to come here! - I still haven't gotten a chance to enjoy the buffet breakfast that they serve every morning ... maybe Elena and I will come in together to try it.

Some Food/Drink Tasted: Sliders - Cheese Fries - Spinach Tortellini Pasta - Chicken lettuce Wraps – Wild Mushroom Pizza – Pepperoni Pizza – Heirloom Tomato Salad – Filet Mignon Sandwich – Chicken Panini – Turkey Panini - Cookies & Ice Cream

Gaslight Restaurant Review

Gaslight, Brasserie du Coin
My Opinions: My visit here today was to attend Gaslight's Patio Opening Party.  I believe PR expert, Chris Haynes (no family relation), of CBH Communications worked on this event, and did a great job. Attendance was perfect for the space and the vendor set-up kept the crowd circulating - Every summer, I love coming to the patio for a light lunch that consists of a simple cafe menu with some French twists – The staff is great and the bar scene is friendly with a lot of locals.

Some Food/Drink Tasted: Croque-Monsieur – Gaslight Salade – Sandwich Cubano – Pâté De Campagne – Fondue Piemontaise – Molten Chocolate Cake

LuxLash Review

LuxLash

My Opinions: So for those who didn't know, I'm a "lash addict". I have very thin and short lashes, and I've tried everything from mascara to strip lashes but was never happy with the results, so when I found this solution I was hooked - They have a lovely and accessible storefront on Newbury Street and you always get friendly service - I am excited that they just started offering manis & pedis while you get your lash extensions applied because you're there for about an hour or so - Lash extensions last as long as your natural lashes do (so about 6 weeks) and you don't have to wear mascara ... I'm off to schedule my lash fill - see you there!

P.S. This is a great service to get done, especially a few days before a wedding or party! They offer  bridal packages, temporary lashes and lash extensions (what I have), waxing and even semi-permanent make-up. There are also products to support your quest for beauty secrets.
