Marliave Restaurant & Bar Review

Marliave
My Opinions:  Leave it to Marliave to top themselves with offering great menu items. Where else can you get butterscotch pudding? Yummy!

Also, I finally got to eat outside and it was very nice, but I wish they could speak to their neighboring building that has a motion sensor light that keeps flicking on-and-off like a broken metronome. Se la vi! I recommend trying to sit closer to the street side so it's not as noticeable.

The outside dining service is thankfully just as good as it is in the main restaurant. They encourage you to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and food ... you almost forget you're in Boston. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Some Food/Drink Tasted:  Lasagna - Cheesy Macaroni – Beets - Henry’s Soup – Yankee Pot Roast – Bistecca - Risotto - Mixed Greens - Pan Roasted Chicken - Cake and Ice Cream - Butterscotch Pudding

Bistro du Midi Restaurant & Bar Review

Bistro du Midi
My Opinions: I typically eat upstairs in the dining room, but, due to a private function, I was only able to dine downstairs ... something I've been interested in trying now that the warm weather is here and the large windows open up to Boylston Street.  I was disappointed to notice the service was just not as friendly and polite, and the menu is quite different. I tried to get some of my standard favorite bites like the barbajans, but  couldn't. I will definitely go to Via Matta or the Bristol Lounge instead of eating at the bar again.

Some Food/Drink Tasted: Barbajans, Parmesan & Black Olive Shortbreads – Fried Artichokes with Aïoli – Chestnut Soup – Marinated Beet Salad – Filet of Beef – Classic Provençal Beef Daube - Trio of Sorbets - Grand Marnier Soufflé - Chocolate Soufflé - Anis Pot de Crème - Warm Chocolate Fondant w/ Nougat Ice Cream - Eggplant & Olive Dip with Crostini - Croque Monsieur - Roasted Chicken Breast with Polenta - Chocolate and Pistachio Tart

Whisky Guild Cruise

Whisky Guild Cruise

My Opinions: This was my first time on this annual event, hosted in multiple cities, and, once I got past the so-so event management, I had a great time ... yes, the whisk(e)y helped! Purchasing a VIP ticket was definitely not worth it, but hosting it on the Seaport Elite was a nice touch. Next time it should be schedule a bit closer to the summer. They had some nice labels represented, but don't count on the "dinner" to be delicious. The cigar seller did great business, maybe next time there will be more options?

P.S. Ladies, next time we should see more of you too because there was a whole floor of men I didn't even get to talk to ;)

Basho Restaurant Review

My Opinions:  I truly hope Basho succeeds. The space is great - fun layout and nice fixtures with a large bar. My only concern is that the location is not going to be able to keep this place busy enough. The opening party was a great time with lots of people from a company I did business development for, the Phoenix Media Communication Group.  I enjoy their sister restaurant, Douzo, for lunch too.

Harvest Restaurant Review

Harvest
My Opinions: I had a lovely business lunch here today complete with friendly and attentive service - The lunch menu was great, with a nice choice of comfort food dishes and great quality - I like the interior as a nice change of pace from the all the casual places offered in this artsy and scholastic area - the Bar area can be a fun since it pulls a consistent crowd - The outside patio is very nice in the warm weather so try it!

Some Food/Drink Tasted: Shrimp Salad - Griddled Croque Monsieur – Eggs Benedict – Beet Salad - Harvest Charcuterie – Wild Striped Bass – NY Striploin - Chicken Pot Pie - Grilled Cheese w/Tomato Soup

Clio Restaurant & Bar Review

Clio at the Eliot Hotel
My Opinions:  I haven't been back here in quite a while, but was pleasantly surprised, even if I did only get to sit at the bar for my post Red Sox game on Cinco de Mayo. The bartender was great, friendly and knowledgeable, and the crowd was lively.

I am looking forward to having another sit-down dinner here soon. Chef Kenneth Oringer boasts contemporary French-American dishes, one of my favorite cusines, and if I remember correctly their staff is quite formal and attentive. I'd love to sit at their Uni Sashimi Bar some day too!

Giving

GIVING

What am I doing;
Pursuing a ruined opportunity?
Although there are powerful feelings you inspire in me
I'm acutely aware of what cannot be.

What I would give to be where we were when things went wrong;
So long did we hold on.
And so hot were the tears that fell from my eyes that I realized
I didn't know what it was to cry.
To feel my heart ache at the warmth of your embrace after my shallow tirades
And to swallow my guilt that coated my throat
My stomach tightened, and still my pride would not write a simple apology note.

These are all the things I wish I could change
Because my dreams are so sweet now, my fantasies so complete now
My core stabilized somehow, but now, I must let you go.
I must be the first one to fold.

All the sorrow I caused and anger I brought,
And heartache I consciously sought,
Is why I must suffer alone.

No more of your forgiveness will be accepted.
One final time you will be rejected,
And I will fade into a distant memory.

Oishii Restaurant Review

Oishii Boston
My Opinions: I had one of my best visits this evening. The food is always delicious, fresh and of high quality, and the service is attentive but not overbearing, so I think that the new summer cocktails made it extra special. I had the watermelon martini, maybe two, and they were so good. I also tried the cucumber cocktail that tasted "good for you".

Ambiance is the best ... dark, swanky and minimalistic with a moderate to quite noise volume. I prefer sitting downstairs - Oishii is a special restaurant that's perfect for dates, special occasions, and/or important business dinners.

Some Food/Drink Tasted: Seaweed Salad – Duck Salad – Kobe Beef Carpaccio – Grilled Black Cod – Seafood Shumai – Beef Negima – Grilled Chilean Seabass – Green Tea Ice Cream
