O Ya Bar & Restaurant Review

O YA
My Opinions: This is my favorite place to go for sushi.

To start, even with reservations, we were seated at the bar ... something the host staff should have told me when I made the reservation. I was a bit put off at first, but nothing like a great bottle of wine from their well-groomed list, and a few pieces of their delicious sushi, to put a smile on my face. I admit, it was amusing to see the chefs prepare some of the pieces.

Maybe it was the new seating experience, but I was feeling confident about ordering for myself, so I didn't do the Tasting Menu and it turned out to be a great experience (slightly less expensive too). Buyer note: this restaurant is pricey so bring your Black card.

The restaurant is small and cozy with a romantic ambiance. It's a great high-end client dinner or date spot because the noise level is low, the service is friendly yet formal, and it's a nationally recognized special place that not everyone's been to, but everyone wants to try. Skip the desert - tonight I stopped by Les Zygomates Wine Bar across the street  for a night cap, live jazz, and a sweet treat.

Some Food/Drink Tasted: Chef’s Tasting - Sushi (what else?)

Stephanie's on Newbury Restaurant & Bar Review

Stephanie's on Newbury
My Opinions: Though the crowd wasn't bustling tonight, I still had a great meal. The food portions are generous, the quality of food/ingredients is fresh, and the service is friendly. In my experience, they have some of the best (and biggest) salads in the city.

This is a staple restaurant on Newbury Street, and I've been coming here for years. My favorite meal here is the weekend brunch, or lunch on the outside patio during the summer, but an occasional dinner here is quite satisfying too.

Don't miss dining at Stephi’s on Tremont, Stephanie's younger member of the family, which has a similar menu that's just as delicious.

Try:  Fruit Salad - Beet Salad
     Skip:  n/a

Some Food/Drink Tasted:  Wedge Salad - Ahi Tuna Tartare - Fruit Bowl - Chocolate Chip and Blueberry Pancakes - Waffles - Frittered French Toast – Skirt Steak – Winter House Salad – Fried Calamari – Baked Spinach and Artichoke Dip – Open Faced Thanksgiving Sandwich – Fried Chicken Sandwich – Turkey Club – Classic Chunky Chicken Salad – Red Beet Salad – Pecan Crusted Warm Goat Cheese Salad – Pulled Chicken Pasta – Chicken Pot Pie – Oversized Stephi Burger – Lobster Pot Pie -  Macaroni and Cheese – Bread Pudding – Warm Chocolate Cake - Cookie Sandwich

Port 305 Bar & Restaurant Review

PORT 305
My Opinions: Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

I had a fun time at the bar tonight, even with the more "mature" crowd ... St. Paddy's Day (aka Jameson Irish Whiskey) has a way of bringing out the kid in all of us.

This is the newest restaurant on the block, next door to its older brother restaurant, Siros (still my favorite). The food and service here is good. I especially like coming here for a late lunch or pre-dinner cocktail. The easy-going atmosphere is a nice medium for what's around. The place does quiet down early, but once the summer is here, I'm betting that will change.

Some Food/Drink Tasted:  Fried Calamari - Pot Stickers - Chopped Caesar - Quesadilla - Chicken Pot Pie - Baked Haddock - Sweet Potato Fries

Radius Bar & Restaurant Review

Radius
My Opinions: I enjoyed another great dinner here tonight, along with a savory bottle of red wine picked from their extensive list, despite Restaurant Week going on. (I am not a fan of this bargain hunt gluttony that takes table reservations from loyal patrons, and has some restaurants changing their menu to items they typically don't have and won't have again. I think most places should reserve a certain quantity of their tables for Restaurant Weekers and leave the rest for their Regulars.)  Not to sound like a complete grump, I was happy to see the bar area bustling and the dining room full ... even if the crowd was a bit different.

Radius remains to be a Boston-Classic in the Financial District, and one of my favorite restaurants to dine at. The service is impeccable complimented by excellent food quality and elegant flavors. I like the sexy rotund room layout and simple/clean decor, too.

I'm a big fan of Via Matta and Altastrada (MGM Grand location) as well, members of Michael Schlow's restaurants, so try them all!

     Try:  Burger - Seared Cod
     Skip:  Rice Pudding

Some Food/Drink Tasted:  Steak Tartare - Buffalo Mozzarella Salad - Pan Seared Cod - Lamb Ravioli - Maine Crab Salad – Sweetbreads – Foie Gras – Chilled Maine Lobster – Bass – Organic Chicken – Rib Eye - Loin of Lamb - Boston Creme Donuts - Cookie Plate - Sorbets - Chocolate Cake
